Pujols is healthy, Ryan says he’ll be fine

February 23, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Today is the first official day all players are expected to report to Cardinals’ Spring Training in Jupiter Florida. The big stars were there by the end of the weekend setting a good example for the rest of the team.

Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday arrived ahead of schedule on Sunday. The big question for Pujols is his repaired elbow that went under another surgery this offseason. When Pujols arrived, he said he is 95% healthy and he has no limitations…in fact he’s been throwing and hitting for about six weeks already.

Shortstop Brendan Ryan who needed wrist surgery to take care of chronic swelling on February 9th said he will be ready for opening day. If not Julio Lugo will get the call. Lugo was surprised when he arrived in Florida that Ryan had surgery and wasn’t aware of Ryan’s situation.
