The Mizzou Tigers could not stretch their season opening winning streak to five as they lose yesterday in their first game of the Collegiate Cactus Classic to Gonzaga 10-6. It is the first time since 2006, Mizzou has not won their season opening game.

Gonzaga would be in control from the start of the game as they would score two runs in the first, and add one more in the second.

But the Tigers would have an answer in their half of the third as freshman Blake Brown singled in a run and junior Brett Nicholas would follow with a two run home run to tie the game.

Gonzaga would take the lead back in the sixth, and then explode for six runs in the eighth to build a 10-3 lead. The Tigers would get two back in their half of the eighth, and one more in the ninth.

The Collegiate Classic continues for the Tigers this afternoon as they will take on Washington at 4:00 and then New Mexico tonight at 8:00. Mizzou will finish the Classic with a game tomorrow afternoon at noon against Gonzaga.
