Missouri’s Michael Denmon scored 24 points on 8 of 12 shooting, including 5 of 6 on three pointers while Nebraska’s Ryan Anderson scored 22 on 6 of 9 three point shooting, but the Husker senior went without a field goal in the second half as the Tigers won in Lincoln 74-59 on Saturday evening.
The Huskers gave another solid effort for Doc Sadler as they trailed Missouri by just 35-33 at halftime. Yet, you could see Missouri’s defense begin to wear down NU in the second half. Up 42-39, Denmon hit a three pointer with just over 15 minutes to play prompting a Nebraska timeout. The Tigers built on that six point lead by outscoring Nebraska 22-14 over the next 10 minutes to open up a 62-57 lead.
The stats for the most part were pretty even, except in three point shooting where Missouri, the best three point shooting team in the Big 12 hit 11 of 19 while the Huskers were just 6 of 16 with all of them coming from Anderson. The rest of the team was 0 for 7.
Zaire Taylor scored 18 for Missouri and Laurence Bowers 12 behind Denmon’s personal best. No other Husker besides Anderson scored in double digits. Missouri moves to 20-7, 8-4 in Big 12 play while Nebraska drops to 13-14 overall and 1-11 in conference play.
