St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson will not face charges after Las Vegas authorities found insufficient evidence that Jackson abused a former girlfriend and mother of his son. Las Vegas police said after interviewing the woman and talking with Jackson and witnesses there was not enough to move forward with a case. Jackson released a statement when the accusations first became public about two weeks ago saying that he was innocent and would be cleared.

Jackson’s girlfriend, Supriya Harris claimed that she was pushed and knocked down by Jackson back in March of 2009 and that he took her to the hosptial and told her to lie by saying she fell in the shower. She gave birth to a baby boy 10 days after the alleged incident.

Harris said she filed the report not to get Jackson into trouble, but to get him help. She said she also feared for their son’s future. In Jackson’s statement he said Harris’ accusations were “hurtful because people who know me know that those actions would be out of character for me.” Jackson missed the Pro Bowl with a back injury after his fifth straight 1,000 yard rushing season.
