Missouri Southern’s Apon, MIAA player of the week

February 9, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Jolea Apon set a Missouri Southern record for three pointers in a game, and tied the MIAA mark, by nailing 11 three pointers in one game. The senior guard was named the MIAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Apon set the school record in a 23-point win for the Lions over Missouri Western this past Wednesday. The previous school-record was nine threes set by Sonya Harlin in 1993. She is tied with Missouri-St. Louis’ Laura Satterfield (1994) and Pittsburg State’s Jenni Miller (1995) for the all-time MIAA record.
