Missouri Western pulls off a huge upset

February 2, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Just two days after #3 Fort Hays State was upset by Northwest Missouri State, the Missouri Western men’s basketball team upset the Tigers with a 75-69 Monday night. The victory is the first time the Griffons have beat a top five team since they upset #3 ranked Northwest Missouri State on February 4, 2002.

It was also the ninth win in a row for the Griffons. Central Missouri basketball coach Kim Anderson called Fort Hays State the best team in the MIAA conference and this was at a time when the Mules were number one and the Tigers upset Central Missouri.

Now, the Tigers have suffered two straight losses to Missouri schools. Click here for a recap of last night’s win.
