The Kansas City Chiefs hired hall of famer Emmit Thomas as their defensive backs coach. The guy knows a little something about playing in the secondary. As a player, Thomas is the Chiefs all-time leader with 58 interceptions.

He spent the past 8 years in Atlanta as an assistant coach, DB coach and even filled in as head coach for three games in 2007. He was an assistant at Washington where he has two Super Bowl rings. Many NFL insiders have scratched their head wondering why he’s never had a shot at a head coaching job. He’s well respected and is a good addition to Romeo Crennel’s defensive staff.

The Chiefs also announced Bernie Parmelee, a former Miami Dolphins running back, as tight ends coach. They also hired Otis Smith, a 13 year NFL cornerback, for defensive quality control. Smith was a former Missouri Tiger.
