Eric Brewer and Alex Steen scored for the Blues as they beat Edmonton 2-1 on Thursday night and handed the Oilers their 12th straight loss. The Blues took the lead with their one and only shot in the third period.

The Oilers drew first blood when Dustin Penner scored at 7:44 of the second period but the Blues tied the game up just 17 seconds later when Brewer beat Oilers goalie Jeff Deslauriers from the point.

The Blues grabbed the lead in the third when they scored on their lone shot by Steen when he was able to lift the puck over an Edmonton defensmen and beat Deslauriers for his 12th goal of the year. It’s been tough luck like that, that has been killing Edmonton. The Oilers are on an 0-10-2 skid and have dropped 19 of 20. Edmonton is approaching the franchise record winless streak of 14 games set in 1993.

The Blues are now 15-8-4 on the road and have won seven of their last ten games. Chris Mason got the win for the Blues making 24 saves.
