The Vancouver Canucks are a hot team right now. In their last game before a 14 game road trip thanks to the Olympics, the Canucks rattled off their sixth win in a row by beating the St. Louis Blues 3-2 Wednesday night. Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo stopped 25 Blues’ shots in the win.

Mason Raymond scored twice and Christian Ehrhoff scored the tie-breaking goal with 7:48 remaining in regulation with Paul Kariya in the penalty box for slashing…a call that Blues interim coach Davis Payne disagreed with when asked after the game if he thought there was a penalty.

Ehrhoff’s shot from the right circle near the goal line deflected off Blues defenseman Barrett Jackman and past Ty Conklin into the net. The Blues had chances late to the tie the game, but Andy McDonald was stopped on a breakaway and Erik Johnson hit the post with less than two minutes in regulation.

The Blues are 13th out of 15 teams in the Western Conference with 54 points and trail the 8th and final playoff spot by just five points. The Blues are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games and next play at Edmonton who is in last in the Western Conference. The Oilers are 0-8-2 in their last ten games.
