The #16 SBU Bearcats lost at home for the first time in nearly three years, as the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks won 99-91, despite at 36 point, 20 rebound performance from senior Matt Roger. The loss snapped the Bearcats’ 38-game home court winning streak, which dated back to February 2007. Fort Hays State was last team to defeat the Bearcats in the Meyer Sports Center, a 74-64 win over the Bearcats late in Rogers’ freshman season.

The Bearcats (14-4, 5-3 MIAA) opened up a 12-point margin in the first half on multiple occasions. After SBU led 32-20 with 32-20 with just under seven minutes left in the first half, but UNO would use a 12-4 run to cut the lead to four points and shoot 60% shooting in the second half to pull off the come from behind win. The Mavericks (13-2, 6-2 MIAA) would grab the lead for good at 65-63 with 15 minutes left in the 2nd half. The Mavs would push the lead to as much as 13 points, before the Bearcats would cut it five points in the final minutes.

SBU is on the road on Saturday afternoon, to take on the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
