The Mizzou Tigers 29 game winning streak at the Mizzou Arena will be on the line as they open Big 12 Conference play this afternoon against the nationally ranked Kansas State Wildcats. The Tigers home court winning streak is currently the second longest in the nation.

This is going to be a battle of two teams that are on a roll. The Tigers come into this game after beating Savannah State at home Wednesday night. This was their seventh win in a row and completed a perfect non-conference schedule at the Mizzou Arena.

For the Wildcats, they won their 10th game in a row last Sunday when they beat South Dakota, 91-69. Kansas State is currently ranked 11th in the Associated Press poll and 10th in the USA Today Coaches Poll. This is their best start to a season since 1993.

The Mizzou Arena has not been a nice place to visit for teams in the top 25. Currently the Tigers are 4-2 against the top 25 on their home floor. Mizzou did beat Kansas State when they were nationally ranked in 2008. Last season, the Tigers beat number 16 Kansas and number 4 Oklahoma at the Mizzou Arena.

The Tiger’s success this season has been built on giving and taking the ball away. The Tigers are currently seventh in the nation with more than 18 assists per game. Nine different Tigers have 19 or more assists this season. And the Tigers lead the nation in steals, and also have three players, Zaire Taylor, Kim English, and Keith Ramsey, ranked among the top 100 nationally in steals per game.

This game could come down to bench play as both teams like to run up and down the floor. For Mizzou, nine different players have reached double figures in scoring and 10 different ones are averaging more than 10 minutes per game.

All fans are asked to wear gold and the game is a sell out this afternoon. Tip off is set for 1:00.
