Missouri State nearly pulls off the big shocker

January 7, 2010 By Bill Pollock

Missouri State nearly pulled off the greatest comeback in school history Wednesday night at JQH Arena, cutting a 25-point second half deficit to one point with 12.2 seconds left, but come up short losing to Wichita State, 65-62.

The Bears played a dismal first half, trailing 37-18 at the break, but got going in the second half thanks to a 23-6 run that put the Bears down 51-49 with 6:02 to play. The Shockers went back up by nine with 3:17 to play, but the Bears closed to 63-62 with less than a minute to go on a three pointer and then a foul shot on the next possession, but Wichita State made two free throws to ice the game.

The Bears drop their second MVC game in a row and fall to 12-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
