A manhunt is underway for a suspect in this morning’s workplace shooting at the ABB electric power facility in north St. Louis. Authorities are looking for 51-year-old Timothy Hendron who is suspected of carrying at least one weapon – an AK-47 rifle – into the plant just before 7 o’clock. Witnesses say he then started shooting at several workers, including a supervisor, killing one person and wounding at least four others.

Police had thought, for a time, that the suspect was still in the ABB complex. But they now believe he left and have issued an alert for law enforcement and others to be on the lookout for a 2001 Nissan truck with Missouri license plate number OKK 696.

Hendron is a Webster Groves resident who was a longtime employee and was part of a class action lawsuit filed against the company’s pension plan. He is described by some colleagues as a disgruntled worker but it is unclear whether the legal filing or its outcome had anything to do with today’s shooting.
