The Cardinals brass sat down with Matt Holliday’s agent Scott Boras this weekend in Austin, TX and began hammering out details of a new multi-year contract. GM John Mozeliak is cautiously optimistic and says things are moving the right direction. Manager Tony LaRussa thinks something will get done this week. If not he says the team needs to move on.

This basically became a one team race and took many of Boras’ bargaining chips away when Jason Bay signed with the Mets. They were truly the only other team that had a shot at Holliday after Boston signed pitcher John Lackey. Now it’s a matter of working out details.

From Friday the 15th through Monday the 18th, the Cardinals will be making stops from Joplin, Jefferson City, Hannibal Cape Girardeau and places in between. There is no confirmed list of players yet, but here are the stops on the Cardinals Caravan.
