Authorities in Carroll County, in northwest Missouri, are investigating the deaths of five members of a family in a house fire in rural Braymer.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department says the emergency call came in just before 5 o’clock Friday morning. A man, a woman, and three children died in the fire. Two other people survived the fire.

Officials say the cause is believed be to accidental, with an unattended fireplace thought to be the reason for the blaze. The bodies of the victims have been taken to Columbia where they will be autopsied.
