Tigers Take On Winless Lions

December 19, 2009 By Missourinet Contributor

The Mizzou Tigers continue their two game homestand with a game tonight against winless Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Tigers are playing back to back home game for the first time since the end of November. One thing the Tigers will have to adjust to is playing without senior J.T.Tiller. He has been suspended for this game after being arrested earlier this week for an unpaid speeding ticket.

Mizzou will once again put two very long winning streaks on the line again tonight. The Tigers have a 24 game winning streak inside Mizzou Arena, which is tied for third longest in the nation with Dayton and Siena.

Mizzou needs just five more wins at home to move into a second place tie for the longest home winning in school history. The school record for the longest winning streak by the Tigers at home is 34.

The Tigers will also be trying to extend their school record 42 game non- conference home winning streak, which dates back to the 2005-2006 season.

Mizzou is coming off a week long break after they posted a dominating win last Saturday night against Fairleigh Dickinson. Mizzou won that game by 51 points. This was the fourth consecutive time that the Tigers beat an opponent at home by 30 or more points.

This will be the third time these two teams have met on the basketball court. Mizzou currently leads the series 2-0. The Tigers and Lions did play last season at the Mizzou Arena and before that, played in December of 1998 at the Hearnes Center.

The Tigers and Lions will tip off at 7:00 tonight.
