The St. Louis Rams released G Richie Incognito. Head Coach Steve Spagnuolo was very vanilla in his response yesterday, “As with all other personnel moves, this is what we felt was in the best interest of the team at this time. We appreciate Richie’s efforts and we wish him the very best.”
Spagnuolo who has kept his cool most of the season, was visibly upset on the sideline after Incognito was flagged for his second personal foul. Incognito picked up two personal foul penalties in the season opener at Seattle. I think Incognito was the guy who got flagged last year at Washington that forced Josh Brown to hit a long field goal at the end of the game to give the Rams their first win last year. His bone head play nearly cost the team a win.
The guy needs help. I don’t have much tolerance for guys with short fuses, but he needs to get control of his emotions before he should think about stepping back out onto the field. Incognito was voted among the NFL’s dirtiest player in a poll taken by the Sporting News of NFL players.
Incognito, a five-year veteran, spent his entire career with the Rams after being drafted by the team in the third round (81st overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft.
