The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats are headed back to the Division II National Title Game for the fifth year in a row following their 56-31 win over the Vulcans of California University (PA.) The Bearcats will face Grand Valley State Michigan next Saturday in Florence, Alabama, site of the D-II national title game.

The Bearcats have won two national titles with head coach Mel Tjeerdsma, but have lost the last four title games they have appeared in. The first two in 2005 and 2006 came at the hands of Grand Valley State in heartbreaking fashion.

The Bearcats were led by their three leaders, quarterback Blake Bolles who threw three touchdowns. LaRon Council, a Harlon Hill Trophy finalist, had a big night running the ball, and sophomore Jake Soy, one of the top receivers in D-II football had two touchdown catches. The Bearcats also blocked a punt for a touchdown at the end of the first half to put them up 21-10. They also returned a kick for a touchdown as well.

More details are coming soon.
