The St. Louis Cardinals re-signed veteran catcher Jason LaRue to a one-year contract for the 2010 season. The 35 year old will back up Yadier Molina once again. This will be LaRue’s third year with the Cardinals. He hit .240 last year in 51 games.  He started 10 of the final 18 games down the stretch and hit .286 in the month of September.

The Cardinals have also signed minor league infielder and former Kansas City Royal Ruben Gotay. The infielder will be a non-roster invitee to Major League camp this spring. He has a lifetime Major League average of .255 in 316 games.
