The Chargers converted four Chiefs turnovers into scores as the Chiefs came back down to earth a week after knocking off the Super Bowl Champion Steelers by losing 43-14. LaDainian Tomlinson scored two touchdowns and moved into 10th on the NFL’s all-time rushing list. Philip Rivers threw two touchdown passes to Antonio Gates as the Chargers improved to 8-3. The Chiefs fall to 3-8.

Chargers’ Cornerback Quentin Jammer had an interception and forced a fumble, and Brandon Siler and rookie Larry English also recovered fumbles. The biggest play against the Chiefs came when Chiefs QB Matt Cassel had the ball slip out of his hand while he was trying to pass and Paul Oliver picked the ball out of the air and ran it back 40 yards for a score. That made the game 28-7 at that point.

That came just 15 seconds after Rivers threw a touchdown pass which came after running back Jamaal Charles fumbled the ball at the San Diego 39. The Chiefs winning streak was snapped at two games. Head Coach Todd Haley said they were looking to take another step in the right direction, but said, “If you turn the ball over it’s going to get out of hand quick, which is exactly what happened.”

The Chiefs were outgained 426 to 284 yards. Charles rushed for 93 yards while Cassel was just 19 of 31 for 178 yards.
