Happy Thanksgiving. That’s what I need to say first. I’m got turkey on my mind this week and that led me to thinking about home cooking calls from college basketball refs. Just as we suspected, refs tend to favor the home team when it comes to calling fouls. That is according to a study done by a couple of professors who studied 365 college basketball games from 2004-05.

The study shows that refs tend to keep the foul calls even over the course of a game. I bring the topic up with my partners Steve Walsh and Brent Martin and get interesting insight from Brent who played basketball and also did some officiating.

It’s also high school football championship weekend. The Pressbox Podcast would not be complete with our producer Danielle Glenn giving us a Bowling Green Bobcat cheer. They play for the Class 3 title this weekend. Oh, the things Danielle will put up with in the name of love.

Again, Happy Thanksgiving. Have a safe weekend!
