A bit more information comes in about “non-hostage” situation

November 24, 2009 By [email protected]

Investigators still lack one key piece of information about the fake hostage situation at a government buidling in Jefferson City two weeks ago. They know where the call came to. They don’t know where the call came from.

Investigators say somebody got the unlisted number for an elevator telephone in the building, called it, and told the elevator rider who answered there was a hostage situation underway on the fifth floor of the building. That person told a second person who then told her supervisor who then told the alarm company that then called police.

Five law enforcement agencies responded. The building was evacuated. Streets were blocked off for four hours.
