The number four Washington University in St. Louis volleyball team advances to the NCAA Division III Regional Final with a win last night over St. Mary’s out of Minnesota, 3-1.  The Bears won the game in their own house as the tournament is being held in the WU Field House.

Washington University used 19 kills to pick up a 25-21 win in the first set. Senior middle hitter Erin Albers would convert seven of her 10 kill attempts.  Sophmore middle hitter Lauren Budde also had five kills.

In the second set, the Bears would trail early, and then would make a comeback, before the set would eventually be won by St. Mary’s.

The third set would be a different story as Washington University was able to withstand an attack by St. Mary’s and come away with a 25-18 win.

The fourth set would be equally as exciting as both teams would fight hard, but the Bears proved to be just a bit better as they come away with a 25-22 win.

Washington University now moves on to play number eight Carthage College in the final tonight.  For the Bears, this will be their 23rd straight appearance in the Regional Finals.

The match will start tonight at 7:00.
