The Missouri Tigers will try to make it two wins in a row when they take on Baylor Saturday afternoon at Faurot Field. The Tigers are still right in the thick of the Big 12 North race after winning last week on the road in Colorado.
The Tigers broke their three game losing streak last week by beating Colorado 36-17. This put an end to their 0-3 start to Big 12 Conference play, something the Tigers had not done since 2002.
Mizzou jumped all over Colorado by putting up 33 quick points in the first half to take a 33-3 lead at halftime. The second half would be dominatd by the Tiger defense as they would force four Colorado turnovers and sack Buffaloes quarterback a total of eight times.
Baylor is coming off a loss last week at home to Nebraska. The Bears would fall behind 20-0 before scoring 10 unanswered points. However, they did not score an offensive touchdown against the Nebraska defense. Their points came on a field goal and an intercepted pass that would be returned for a score.
The game this week may not be determined by the potent Mizzou offense, but the stout defense. Last week against Colorado, the Tigers allowed just 176 total yards of offense. The Buffaloes could not run the ball as they managed -14 yards for the entire game.
Not only will a win Saturday put the Tigers back into contention for the Big 12 North title, but it will also make them eligible to play in bowl game for the fifth season in a row. This would be a school record for Mizzou. It is important to note though, that just having six wins does not guarantee that the Tigers would get invited to play in a bowl game.
The Tigers and the Bears will kick off just after 1:00 Saturday afternoon.
