Missouri Western falls to Creighton

The Missouri Western men’s basketball team out rebounded Division I Creighton University by 16 but turned the ball over 22 times falling 94-69. The Griffons were led by Justin Taylor as he had 14 points off the bench while Marcus Rhodes added 13.

The Blue Jays would open the first half scoring 16 of the first 18 points to take a 16-2 lead just 5:39 into the game. During the next seven minutes, the Griffons would hang with the Bluejay being outscored just 14-13 to make the score 30-15 with 7:20 left in the half.

In the first ten minutes of the second half the Griffons would take good shots converting on 8-of-12 attempts scoring 18 points. CU would also shoot well making 56.3-percent (9-of-16) scoring 21 points.  In the game the Griffons shot 43.1-percent (25-58) form the field as they had 42 points in the paint to Creighton’s 38. The key stat was that the Blue Jays had 34 points off of the Griffon turnovers with 21 fast break points. Creighton shot 51.6-percent (33-64) from the field and only turned the ball over 11 times.  Creighton was led by Stinnett as he finished with 20 points while Darryl Ashford pitched in 16.
