For the 0-7 St. Louis Rams, maybe, just maybe, a trip this weekend to Detroit to take on the 1-5 Lions, will be the cure for the team with the league’s longest losing streak. The Rams are facing the Lions for the first time since 2006 and for the first time in Detroit since 2003.

St. Louis comes into this game after being demolished last Sunday 42-6 at the hands of the Indianapolis colts. The one highlight of the game was the play of running back Stephen Jackson. He rushed for a season high 134 yards on 23 carries. This was the third 100 yard game for Jackson this season. He is now third in the NFL in rushing.

Detroit comes into the game after having their bye week. The last time they were on the field, they were shut out in Green Bay by the Packers 26-0. The Lions had no offense in that game, combined with an injury to backup quarterback Dante Culpepper, who was playing for the already injured Matthew Stafford. Detroit finished the game with their third string quarterback Drew Stanton in charge of the offense. Stafford may or not play on Sunday.

This was a week of ups and downs for the Rams, as they lose two players to season ending injuries, and also get one back from a recent suspension.

Long snapper Chris Massey and cornerback Bradley Fletcher were both lost in the Indianapolis game to season ending knee injuries. Linebacker David Vobora returned to the team after serving a four game suspension for a violation of the league’s policy on performance enhancing drugs.

The Rams and Lions will kick off at noon on Sunday.
