The St. Louis Blues are now 3-1-1 on the road this season after jumping out to a fast start and beating the Carolina Hurricanes 5-2 on Wednesday night.  The Blues took a 3-0 lead in the first period and relied on solid goaltending from Chris Mason. Carolina is now winless in their last seven games. Mason stopped 34 shots and David Perron had two goals, while Yan Stastny and Jay McClement scored 16 seconds apart.

After Perron gave the Blues a 1-0 lead, Stastny and McClement scored clater in the first, marking the fifth time this season the Hurricanes allowed two goals in a less than a minute.  Andy McDonald made it 4-1 with his fourth goal of the season, beating Cam Ward, who allowed four goals on 17 shots before Perron scored an empty-netter. The Canes had eight power-play chances scoring on two of those.
