Longtime Sedalia Smith-Cotton baseball coach dies

Longtime Smith-Cotton baseball coach Ross Dey died early Tuesday morning at University Hospital in Columbia after a long battle with Melanoma cancer.

During his 19 year coaching career, he hosted several annual baseball camps and also coachedLittle League and the Sedalia Post 642 Senior Legion Travelers.

Dey is a member of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. He also led the Central Missouri State Mules to a MIAA championship, played two years on the State Fair Community College baseball team and was a member of the gold medal USA Olympic fast pitch softball team, along with an induction into the Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame.
