The Twins, behind Jason Kubel’s two, three-run homers, beat the Royals, 13-4, on Sunday to snag a share of the American League Central lead on the regular season’s final day.  The Twins will battle the Tigers for the title at 4 p.m. CT on Tuesday at the Metrodome. The winner will advance to the postseason and play the Yankees.

The Royals, with a 65-97 record, finished tied with the Indians for last place or, if you prefer, fourth place in the Central.  The Twins swept the series from the Royals and have won 16 of their past 20 games.

Royals starter Luke Hochevar lasted just three innings giving up seven runs.  Billy Butler finished 0 for 4 and his regular season batting average ended at .301.
