Royals can’t get to Beckett

September 24, 2009 By admin Leave a Comment

The Royals actually hit Boston starter Josh Beckett.  They had 12 hits off the Sox ace, but couldn’t manage more than two runs and a big fifth inning lead to a 9-2 Boston win on Thursday night.

Luke Hochevar blew a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning when Boston scored six times.  Eight straight hitters reached base including a two run triple by Jacoby Elsbury and a walk thrown in there as Hochevar falls to 7-11 on the year.

The Royals only managed three hits off Becket back in July when they faced him as he threw a complete game.  This time, they came out swinging, but couldn’t get the big hit when it mattered, stranding five runners in scoring position.
