Cardinals’ starting pitcher Adam Wainwright made one mistake and he even said that wasn’t all that bad of a pitch, but Dan Uggla’s two run homer in the sixth inning was the difference as the Cardinals lose 2-1 Tuesday Night at Busch Stadium.  The loss, coupled with a Cubs’ win keeps the magic number at 10.

Wainwright said Uggla was sitting on a breaking pitch and while it was down, it was on the inner part of the plate and Uggla got enough of it to get it out.  This came one inning after Albert Pujols put the Cardinals on top 1-0 with an RBI sac fly in the bottom of the fifth.

That’s all the Cardinals lineup could muster up against Florida starter Sean West who went six innings allowing the one run on six hits and three walks while striking out nine.  The Cubs beat Milwaukee and close to 8.5 games in the standings while keeping the Cards’ magic number at 10.
