Lately streaks for the Kansas City Royals have not been a good thing, not so right now as Kansas City runs their current winning streak to five with a 2 to 1, 12 inning win over the Cleveland Indians.

The Royals would get on the board first in the second inning, as Alberto Callaspo led off the inning with a double.  That would be followed by a single from Mark Teahan.  Callaspo would score after the next batter, Miguel Olivo, grounded out.

Kansas City would hold the lead until the bottom of the seventh, when the Indians’ Travis Hafner would single scoring Shin-Soo Choo would had tripled.

That would be all of the scoring until the top of the 12 th , when Royals catcher Miguel Olivo hit a one out home run over the left field wall.  Joakim Soria would come in and pick up his 25 th save of the season.

Royals starter Zack Greinke did not figure in the decision, but he still threw an impressive seven innings, giving up just one run on four hits, while striking out six.

Game two is tonight at Progressive Field with Luke Hochevar starting for Kansas City against Cleveland’s David Huff.  First pitch is 6:05.
