Gil Meche was the second Royals starting to pitcher to go down with shoulder fatique in the past couple of days, joining Brian Bannister with the same ailment. Relief pitcher Robinson Tejada took his place and did great going 5.1 innings holding the Angels scoreless. However, in the 8 th inning Jamey Wright walked three and gave up a hit and the Angels scored two and beat the Royals 2-1.

The Royals couldn’t have asked for more from Tejada. He allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out five. Including last night’s start, in his last ten outings, Tejada has pitched 21.2 innings and has allowed just one earned run as his ERA has gone from 5.93 at the end of July down to 3.61.

The Royals got their lone run off Jared Weaver in the fourth when Mike Jacobs doubled and Alberto Callaspo drove him in with a triple. Weaver allowed nine hits in seven innings, but didn’t allow any other runs.

Jamey Wright walked two batters who later came around to score when Ramon Colon gave up a two run single to Vlad Guerrero in the 8th.
