Former Tiger Matt Lawrence headed to Norway

August 31, 2009 By admin Leave a Comment

Former Missouri Tiger guard Matt Lawrence has signed a professional contract with the Tromso Storm  of Tromso, Norway, who were league champions of the BLNO, the premier basketball league in the country.

"It’s a great team. They won the regular season of their league and have some good players. I really enjoyed talking with the head coach. He’s an American and he’s been there for 23 years and loves it, so I’m excited to see it for myself. I hear it’s beautiful," said Lawrence who leaves next week to begin training immediately upon his arrival. The league is scheduled to begin play in October.

Lawrence started three seasons for Head Coach Mike Anderson. A 1,000-point scorer, he finished second all-time at Missouri in three-point makes (244) and was named the Big 12 Conference’s Co-Sixth Man of the Year in 2009.
