Governor Nixon has blocked the state board of health’s effort to take a number of possibly illegal regulations off the books. The rules apply to church-based childcare centers.
The board says it does not have the legal authority to enforce them. But Governor Nixon says the board is only an advisory body for the state health department…and he has told the department to ignore the recommendations.
Nixon says his administration is committed to the safety of children, although a spokesman is unable to say how rules that the board of health says are illegal will meet Nixon’s commitment.
