Many people don’t get costly navigation systems for their cars because they can get something free from the state. The newest version of the Missouri navigation system is now available. It’s flat and it takes up only a little space in your glove box. It doesn’t speak to you and irritate you by saying "recalculating" if you decide to go your own way—although the person holding it while you’re driving can say some pretty irritating things sometimes..
The new state highway map is out. It looks a lot like the map it replaces except it has about 90 more miles of four-lane highway and notes the new Avenue of the Saints that links St. Louis with St. Paul Minnesota. It also has a new picture on the front. This one shows a refurbished section of I-44 near Fort Leonard Wood.
The transportation planning director for the transportation department, Machelle Watkins, says some folks might not find their towns on it. "We have some limitations on that. They have to be incorporated cities or town. They actually have to be on located on a state highway as opposed to a county route or some private road…..and then we have to have room for it," she says
Copies of the map are free available at any Missouri Department of Transportation office as well as Division of Tourism visitor centers, historic sites and other state offices. You can order one free through the MoDOT Web site .
