Chase Daniel, in his first NFL game threw two touchdowns and outshined the other Washington quarterbacks to lead the Redskins to a 17-13 win over Pittsburgh.  His former Missouri teammate Ziggy Hood sacked Daniel twice.

Washington coach Jim Zorn said that Daniel has a shot at the team’s number three QB job as he battles with former Hawaii star and incumbent Colt Brennan.  Daniel went 6 for 8 for 58 yards in his first outing.  After the game Daniel said, "It’s something you dream about since I was 6 or 7, is playing professional football, and in none of my dreams did I think I’d go out there and throw two touchdowns in my first NFL game."

In Brennan’s two appearances this year, he is just 7 of 17 with one interception and 54 yards passing.  Well, I’m pulling for Daniel.  I have always thought he wouldn’t cut it, but let’s hope the kid keeps putting it together.  In his first test, he certainly passed with flying colors.  There are two preseason games left and if he doesn’t catch on at Washington maybe another team would pick him up.

He’s got to keep chugging. This was in a game with the starters from both sides long gone. I’d like to see Daniel get a chance against some stiffer competition.

How about Pittsburgh’s first round pick Hood.  Ziggy has three sacks in his first two games.
