The St. Louis Rams opened the new and improved Edward Jones Dome with a 20 to 13 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.  The Rams defense would spot the Falcons a 14 point lead as the Atlanta scored two touchdowns in the first quarter at the end of two very long scoring drives.

The Rams would get on the board late in the second quarter on a 43 yard field goal by Josh Brown.  At the half, the Rams trailed 14 to 3.

The Rams would score a touchdown in the third quarter thanks to a 20 yard touchdown pass from Brock Berlin to Derek Stanley.  The Falcons would answer with a field goal of their own and the third quarter ended with Atlanta in the lead, 17 to 10.

St. Louis would cut into the deficit in the fourth quarter after another field goal from Josh Brown, this time from 24 yards out.  Atlanta would answer right back with another field goal to push their lead back to 7.

The Rams did not go out quietly leading a late fourth quarter drive all the way to the Atlanta 12 before Keith Null’s potential game tying touchdown pass was intercepted in the end zone.

Kyle Boller started for the injured Marc Bulger and was 9 of 16 for 91 yards.  Brock Berlin was 5 of 8 for 71 yards with one touchdown.  Third string QB Keith Null was efficient again going 5 for 6 for 51 yards.

The Rams will continue their preseason schedule this Thursday night in Cincinnati with a game against the Bengals.
