The Brett Favre experience in Minnesota starts with a preseason 17 to 13 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.  Ironically, Favre would only play complete one pass for four yards.

The Chiefs got on the board first after a 9 play, 38 yard drive which ended with a 32 yard field goal by Ryan Succop.  Kansas City would extend their lead to 10 in the second quarter after Matt Cassel hit Dwayne Bowe on a four yard touchdown pass.  The scoring drive went 8 plays and covered 66 yards.  Minnesota would score a touchdown with 2:27 left in the second quarter, but Kansas City led at halftime, 10 to 7.

In the third quarter, a 16 play, 64 yard drive ended with another 37 yard field goal by Ryan Succop, putting the Chiefs up 13 to 7.  The Vikings would answer with a touchdown of their own in the third quarter, and took the lead 14 to 13.

Minnesota would then add another field goal in the fourth quarter.  The game would be decided in the final seconds, as the Chiefs would drive all the way to the Minnesota one, but Chiefs quarterback Matt Gutierrez’s pass would fall incomplete in the end zone.

Matt Cassel finished the game 9 for 14 for 99 yards and one touchdown.  Larry Johnson carried the ball 8 times for 21 yards.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be back at Arrowhead next Saturday for their next preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.
