DeMarre Carroll, the Junkyard Dog on Missouri’s record-breaking 31-win team in 2009, had his high school number (#32) retired in a ceremony at John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham, Ala., last weekend. Carroll became the first basketball player in John Carroll history to receive such an honor.

Carroll led the Cavaliers to back-to-back state championships in 2003 and 2004.  The 6-foot-8 forward was a two-time all-state pick at JCCHS and was named the MVP of the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game at the completion of his senior season.

Carroll was a first-round pick of the Memphis Grizzlies in this year’s NBA Draft.
