Before yesterday’s game Zack Greinke had given up just seven home runs in 166 innings this season.  On Wednesday afternoon, he got tagged for three in one game as the Royals lose 4-2 to the White Sox.

All three homers were solo shots.  In the third, rookie third basemen Gordon Beckham homered.  In the fourth it was Carlos Quentin, and newcomer Alex Rios added insurance with his 15 th in the seventh.

Greinke went seven innings and struck out eight.  His record is now 11-8.  The Royals couldn’t do much against Jose Contreras.  The guy was 4-11 coming into the game and the Royals managed just three hits off of him. He also struck out eight.  David DeJesus  was the only one to get to Contreras hitting a solo shot in the fourth.  Later in the eighth, Mark Teahen hit his 10 th homer of the year.
