Royals’ starter Brian Bannister was shelled for five runs in the first inning as Westphalia, MO. native Joe Crede hit a three run homer in that frame as the Twins bounce back to beat KC, 7-1.

This was the second start in a row that Bannister was not sharp.  He allowed five straight hits including singles to Joe Mauer, Justin Morneau, Jason Kubel and Michael Cuddyer before Crede launched his shot.  After the game Bannister said, "I didn’t make good pitches to Morneau and Kubel, and Cuddyer flared one out there, and I made a horrible pitch sequence to Crede. I have rules that I go by and I broke a couple in there, and I’m extremely disappointed in that at-bat because I could’ve shut down and stopped the bleeding right there."

Things looked promising for the Royals who belted out 18 hits the night before.  Willie Bloomquist hit his fourth homer of the year off Francisco Liriano to give the Royals a 1-0 lead.  They would not get another hit until the sixth inning.
