The NCAA came down hard on Southeast Missouri State’s men’s and women’s basketball programs.  Among the violations, there were extra benefits given to two men’s basketball student athletes and cash payments to a former female basketball student athlete.

Among the penalties handed down to the university:  three years probation, scholarship reductions, recruiting restrictions and records vacated.  Now some of these penalties were self imposed by the school, including scholarship reductions and the number of off campus visits.  Wins from the men’s ’06-’07 and ’07-’08 seasons will be vacated as well as individual records.

Attempts to contact the athletic department were unsuccessful.  For more on the story, click here .
