August 8, 2009 By admin Leave a Comment

It will be an emotional ceremony Saturday evening in Canton, Ohio as former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Derrick Thomas is inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Thomas becomes just the 10 th Chief inducted into Canton.  He was Kansas City’s first round draft choice in 1989 out of Alabama, and played 11 seasons as a Chief.

He was selected to the Pro Bowl nine times and is ranked 11 th in NFL history with 126 and a half sacks.  Thomas holds the Chief’s records for career safeties, forced fumbles and fumble recoveries.  He also was a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s NFL All Decade Team of the 90’s.

Thomas would die in 2000 after suffering a serious vehicle accident in Kansas City.  Thomas was inducted into the Chiefs Hall of Fame in 2001.
