It was hit or miss today against Zack Greinke. Unfortunately it was a little more hit. The Tampa Bay Rays scored six runs on ten hits in Greinke’s five innings to win 10-4 and take three out of four from Kansas City.
As far as the miss part, despite getting knocked around, nine of Greinke’s 15 outs came on strikeouts raising his season total to 162. Greinke gave up two runs in the first, then another two in the second off a Willy Aybar home run. Aybar would later homer in the seventh off Ron Mahay. Greinke was then touched for single runs in the fourth and fifth.
The ten hits and six earned runs were the most he’s given up this season. Back on June 5 th , Greinke gave up nine hits and seven runs (five earned) against Toronto. Greinke has now gone six starts without a win and is 0-4 since July. His last win against an American League team was back on May 26 th against Detroit.
