Billy Butler led the Royals with a 5 for 5 night with three RBIs and two runs scored as the Royals took care of Baltimore 5-3 Monday night at Camden Yards.

Butler doubled to lead off the seventh and scored when Brayan Pena reached on an infield single with two outs to put the Royals up 4-3.  In the eighth, Butler added an insurance run in the eighth when he singled for his fifth hit of the night.

Neither started lasted very long or fared well, although Royals’ starter Bruce Chen went a little bit further.  Chen pitched five innings and gave up three runs.  His counterpart, Baltimore’s Rich Hill made it just 2.1 innings and 61 pitches while allowing three runs.

Butler is proving that he can hit in the major leagues.  After having an up and down season last year, that led to an attitude adjustment in a trip back to Omaha in 2008, Butler has matured and has become one of the Royals better hitters as he has raised his season average to .295
