"When the Saints Go Marching In" plays in the background as Newsman Walter Cronkite’s funeral service ends in Manhattan. His relatives and friends continue to linger and reflect on Cronkite’s life. Now he’s headed home, to Missouri.

A larger memorial is planned for next month at Lincoln Center.

Cronkite’s wishes were to be cremated and buried next to his wife, Betsy, in a family plot in Kansas City.

Memorial donations can be made to the Walter and Betsy Cronkite Foundation through the Austin Community Foundation , which will distribute contributions to the various charities the Cronkites supported.
