Royals bats are flat

July 12, 2009 By admin Leave a Comment

The Kansas City Royals finish the first half of the season 37-50 as they head into the All-Star break following a 6-0 loss at Boston.  Red Sox starter Josh Beckett went the distance throwing just 94 pitches for his 11 th win of the year.

Beckett three hit the Royals while striking out seven.  Once again, the Boston bats struck early.  They scored a run in the first and then chased starter Bruce Chen in the fourth when the Sox added three more runs.  Chen left without retiring a hitter in the fourth.  He was charged with three runs in three plus innings.

Chen is now 0-4 with a 7.20 ERA.
