This is just one of those games you chalk up as an ugly loss.  11-0 was the final as the game went from bad to ugly in the late innings.  David Wright had four hits and former Cardinal Fernando Tatis drove in three runs to lead the Mets.

It shouldn’t go unnoticed either that the Cardinals couldn’t do anything against Mets starter Fernando Nieve who gave up just three hits in six innings.

Brad Thompson didn’t help his cause to stay in the rotation when Kyle Lohse returns from the DL.  He took the loss for St. Louis giving up five runs, but it was sloppy play that led to the blowout.

The Cards had two errors in the 7 th inning.  Luis Castillo hit a fly ball to center. Colby Rasmus appeared to catch it but it got away when he had a near collision with Chris Duncan.  Then David Wright hit a grounder to Albert Pujols, but Chris Perez didn’t cover and then third baseball Joe Thurston had a throwing error that led to the four run inning and the blow out.

It’s a battle of aces Thursday as Chris Carpenter takes on Johan Santana in the series finale.
