Six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle La’Roi Glover is retiring after 13 NFL seasons.  Glover, who will turn 35 on the 4 th of July was not re-signed by the Rams following a 2008 season that saw him start nine of the team’s 16 games. 

Glover spent the last three seasons with the Rams where prior to that he went to six straight Pro Bowls.  His best year was 2000, when he led the NFL with 17 sacks while playing for the Saints.  He’s 37 th on the all-time sack list with 83.5. 

Glover attended San Diego State and was taken in the 1996 draft in the fifth round by Oakland.  He played with New Orleans from 1997-2001 and Dallas from 2002-2005 before coming over to the Rams.

In a statement that Glover released, he said, "I still love the game with the same passion I had as a young player in high school, so I plan to always be attached to it in some way, whether commentating, working in the front office, or scouting.
